Join Marja Lankinen, the creator of Yoga for Dancers (Y4D), for a class to support dancer health and wellness. Y4D's movement methodology roots in therapeutics through yoga, and every class targets strength-training, flexibility, range of motion, joint integrity, structural awareness, recovery, and self-care techniques. Through a physical and contemplative practice set in a community-building environment, Y4D offers dancers the extracurricular tools to maintain health and wellness for the duration of their careers and beyond. Q&A included at the end!

What to bring: yoga mat or towel. Water bottle. 

What to wear: anything you're comfortable moving in.

Participants must be aged 18 years or older. Free and open to the public. All are welcome!

About Marja Lankinen

A former professional dancer (Beyoncé, Oprah, Billboard Music Awards, stage and commercial work) and the founder of Yoga for Dancers, Marja Lankinen teaches yoga in Los Angeles and around the world.

She is a staff writer for LA Yoga Magazine and credentialed in yoga therapy from Loyola Marymount University (with her 500-hour from Annie Carpenter’s SmartFlow Yoga). Currently completing her Masters in English at Harvard Extension School and an Associate Degree in French, Marja brings her passion for both language and movement together in her evocative, lyrical yoga classes. Marja has taught therapeutic yoga and meditation practices nationally and internationally for Gothenburg Opera Dance Company (Sweden), Shala Helsinki (Finland), LAX Paris (France), and ISY (Germany). While living in Los Angeles, Marja taught dancers and performance artists at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Culture Shock LA, Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio, Diavolo Dance Theater, EDGE Performing Arts Center, ESPN, Kaba Modern Dance Company, Kreativ Mindz Dance Complex, Millennium Dance Complex, Movement Lifestyle Dance Studio, The Pulse On Tour, Tony Tzar's Blacklight Society, University of California Los Angeles, and the University of Southern California Glorya Kaufman School of Dance as well as for Complexions Contemporary Ballet and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago’s summer intensives.
