The 2023 Wintersession Research Retreat is designed to support students in navigating the science research landscape, no matter where they are in the process. Each day of this 3-day afternoon retreat has a theme. Students may attend as many or as few days of the retreat as they are able. Each day will also include a drop-in work session where students can make progress along their individual path towards engaging in research. Tuesday, Jan 17. 1:00-3:15pm Finding a Lab - learn how to navigate finding projects in line with your goals and interests in this student panel and work session. Wednesday, Jan 18. 1:00-3:15pm Funding and Summer Research - hear from Greg Llacer from the Office of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships (URAF) on summer programs and broader funding opportunities for your research here on campus. Thursday, Jan 19. 1:00-3:15pm Professional Writing - learn best practices for cold emails, cover letters, science resumes, and personal statements in this workshop. Follow it up by working on your materials as you prepare to make contact with labs or apply to summer opportunities.
