The ARC's Senior Thesis Working Retreat is an opportunity to join other thesis writers for accountability, inspiration, and community during the winter break. Participants will set daily goals for their writing and receive resources to support them when they hit roadblocks in the process. Optional noontime workshops will be provided by the ARC, the Center for Wellness, Harvard College Library, and the Bok Center's Learning Lab.

The virtual Senior Thesis Working Retreat takes place Monday through Friday, January 10 - 14, 2022, 9 am - 5 pm.

Registering for Jan. 10th signs you up for the entire week. 

This event is open only to Harvard College undergraduates who are currently writing a senior thesis.

Retreat Schedule: 

Daily Check-ins:  9 and 10 a.m. / 4:30 p.m.
Brief morning and afternoon check-ins to set daily goals, assess progress, and connect students to resources. Students may remain at the Academic Resource Center to work throughout the day, if desired.

Optional Noontime Programming:  12 – 1 pm

MONDAY. From Goals to Actions 
Setting goals is great, but what if you aren't sure how to achieve them? In this session, we'll model how to take common senior thesis goals and turn them into specific action items. 

TUESDAY. Elements of a Thesis 
You've thought a lot about the content that's going into your thesis, what about its form? In this session, we'll talk about the basic structure of a thesis and how using it well can enhance the project's quality. Separate sessions will be run for empirical and non-empirical thesis writers.

WEDNESDAY. Crushing Your Citations
Wondering the best way to organize your citations? Join the Harvard librarians for an overview of available resources. 

THURSDAY. Honing Your Argument
Having trouble describing what you're writing about? Come to this session with the Bok Center's Learning Lab to practice articulating the central ideas of your thesis clearly and succinctly.

FRIDAY. Long-project Wellness 
Is sitting at your desk all day wearing you down? The Center for Wellness takes center stage to give you yoga and meditation tips so you can stay well while you write.
