Add to calendarNew York native, Lakecia Benjamin, named the Rising Star Alto Saxophonist in the 2020 Downbeat Critics Poll, and the Up and Coming Artist of the Year by the Jazz Journalists Association, will lead a guest masterclass open to the Harvard community. This event is the fourth of five masterclasses hosted by Director of Jazz Band Ensembles Yosvany Terry and all 12 Harvard Houses, as part of an inter-house initiative "Performing and Making Art in Real Time." The initiative provides opportunities for students who are part of the jazz rhythm section to play music together in person at Lowell Lecture Hall on campus while working with the artist virtually. The session will include live performance from the students and commentary from Benjamin and Terry. All students are welcome to participate in the event.
