For over six decades, Dr. Edward "Ed" Kravitz, the George Packer Berry Professor of Neurobiology at Harvard Medical School, has been a pioneering scientist, inspiring educator, and dedicated mentor to generations of students and colleagues. From his foundational research demonstrating and examining GABA’s role as a neurotransmitter and groundbreaking work using fluorescent dyes to visualize neuronal structure, to his innovative studies on aggression in lobsters and fruit flies that have focused on the role of amines like serotonin, Dr. Kravitz’s career has set new directions in neurobiology. Deeply committed to teaching and mentorship, Dr. Kravitz has also been a tireless advocate for greater diversity and inclusion in science and medicine.

Please join us for a conversation—moderated by Dr. Scott Podolsky—to discuss Dr. Kravitz’s remarkable journey, the scientific discoveries that have shaped his field, and his reflections and advice for those launching their own paths in science and medicine.
