Join the Office for the Arts and classmates for an informal lunch and conversation with composer Sam Wu ‘17 and music director Elias Miller ‘16, who are collaborating on a concert with the Apollo Ensemble of Boston on November 8. Both alums were members of Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra and the Early Music Society. Wu also conducted the Mozart Society Orchestra and composed music for Harvard Ballet Company

Sam Wu's music deals with beauty in blurred boundaries. Many of his works center around extra-musical themes: architecture and urban planning, climate science and the search for exoplanets that harbor life. His collaborations span five continents, notably with the orchestras of Philadelphia, New Jersey, Minnesota, Sarasota, Melbourne, Tasmania, Macao, and Shanghai, as well as the New York City Ballet, National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing and more.

Assistant conductor of the Columbus Symphony, music director of the Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestra, and music director of the Apollo Ensemble of Boston, Elias Miller has established a reputation as a leading young conductor and orchestra builder. He has worked with numerous orchestras across the U.S. including the New York Philharmonic, Minnesota Orchestra, Nashville Symphony, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Albany Symphony, assisting notable conductors such as Giancarlo Guerrero, Juanjo Mena, JoAnn Falletta, Scott Yoo, Carlos Miguel Prieto, Eun Sun Kim and others.

Capacity: 20 students. Open to current Harvard undergraduates. Register online.

This event is hosted by the Office for the Arts at Harvard in partnership with Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra.
