Human language in all its natural complexity is an enduringly rich object of scientific study. Understanding the structural depth of language is key to understanding the human mind and is increasingly relevant to innovations in technology and cross-disciplinary discoveries in academia. In this optional information session, we offer a glimpse of what Ling 101 will offer, including examples of the sorts of problems that academic linguists tackle and the range of subfields that the course will survey. We'll leave time to look at the syllabus and answer any questions.
