About this Event
1350 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02138
https://forms.gle/BUWmQHLy6NLbrPy89 #latinxheritagemonthIn honor of Latinx Heritage Month, you are invited to a documentary screening of "Latino Pioneers in Boston" followed by a fireside conversation with documentary maker Blanca Bonillo and local Latino changemakers featured in the film: Tony Molina, Jaime Rodriguez, Carmen Paola, Frieda Garcia, and Regla Gonzalez.
This film is a tribute to the unheard voices of the Hispanic community who with “mucho sudor (lots of sweat)" paved the way toward empowerment and representation for the next generations. Latino Pioneers in Boston uses film, print, and exhibition to follow the journeys of eight leaders who represent immigrant resilience and community power. Curated by local producer and director Blanca E. Bonilla and guided by Boston-based sociologist Miren Uriarte, these unique stories and accomplishments contour the migration of Latinos to Massachusetts and their contributions to Boston.
There will be a reception afterwards for students and community members to socialize and eat delicious food. Event is open to the public.
