Houghton Library is showcasing over a dozen portraits of Black artists, including trailblazing performers like Morgan Freeman, Leontyne Price, and James Earl Jones, taken by New York Times photographer Alix Jeffry. This gallery display is part of an exhibition of images from Jeffry’s archive documenting the intersection of the arts and activism in Off Broadway theater in 1964.
