Harvard Educational Review (HER) is hosting an event with Dr. H. Samy Alim and Emile YX? of South Africa's Black Noise on 'Hip Hop and Culturally Sustaining Pedagogies: In the Hour of Chaos Film Screening & Discussion.'
The event will include a film screening of In the Hour of Chaos: Hip Hop Art & Activism with Public Enemy’s Chuck D (2024, 43 minutes), which covers topics such as Black radical movements, Hip Hop feminisms, the global circulation of Hip Hop cultures, and implications for higher education. The screening will be followed a panel dialogue that discusses the importance of hip hop pedagogies and culturally sustaining pedagogies. The event will conclude with a book signing of Dr. Alim’s recently published book, Freedom Moves: Hip Hop Knowledges, Pedagogies, and Futures (2023).
