How the environment affects early childhood development — and a roadmap for resilience.

Speaker and Moderator:  Chelsea Clinton, DPhil, MPH, Vice Chair, Clinton Foundation

Welcome:  Bridget Long, Ph.D., Dean and Saris Professor of Education and Economics, Harvard Graduate School of Education

Panelists include:

  • Leah Austin, Ed.D., President and CEO, National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI)
  • Gaurab Basu, M.D., Director of Education and Policy, Center for Climate, Health, and the Global Environment, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health
  • Lindsey Burghardt, M.D., Chief Science Officer, Center for the Developing Child, Harvard University
  • Junlei Li, Ph.D., Saul Zaentz Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood Education, Harvard Graduate School of Education

As the effects of climate change become more visible in settings around the world, researchers, educators, and communities are starting to assess — and respond to — the consequences for children. Join us as we welcome Chelsea Clinton to the Harvard Graduate School of Education, moderating a panel conversation with early childhood and health experts to focus attention on the impacts of environmental change on early childhood development. The discussion will outline cross-disciplinary solutions and actions to respond to, mitigate, and lessen the threat of climate change and help ensure all children can get a healthy start.

Note: This is an in-person event only. A recording of the event will be posted on the Harvard Education YouTube channel following the event.
