About this Event
From the shootings in Atlanta to physical attacks upon the elderly, Asian Americans have experienced increased violence during the COVID pandemic and carried a collective grief that reminded them of their tenuous status in the U.S. While some have advocated for anti-hate crime legislation, many Asian Americans in alliance with other marginalized communities have responded with solutions that reject increased policing and carceral logics, such as mutual aid networks and educational tools on Asian American history.
Join us for a presentation and Q&A session with Terisa Siagatonu where we can collectively reflect on a future that centers on radical healing and justice for all and how the many groups represented under the label "AAPI" can work together towards liberation. With numerous poetry videos garnering over millions of views collectively, Terisa's writing and teaching blends the personal, cultural, and political in a way that calls for healing, courage, justice, and truth.
