This three-hour workshop (with 3 different dates to choose from) will provide an overview of basic glazing and decorating techniques.  Consider it part introduction, part refresher, part crash course in glazing, decorating and surface.  The session covers how to prepare your work for glazing and explores different ways to apply glaze.  Considerations related to atmosphere, use and functionality will be discussed.  Basic decorating methods using slips, underglazes and wax resist will be demonstrated.  This includes the use of different tools and techniques including brush work, slip trailing, and stamping to create decorative surfaces, patterns and designs. The concepts and skills presented in the workshop are applicable to most firing ranges, clay types and kiln atmospheres.

We are offering three different dates for this workshop. Please note the same content will be repeated for each date.

With your registration, you will receive access to a Harvard Google Classroom for all three dates for this workshop which will provide a place for sharing of ideas, discussion, hand-outs and will feature recordings of each class. In case you miss a class or would like to review, these recordings will be available for 30 days after the end of the course.

Cost: Free for Harvard College Undergraduate Students; $75 for Harvard Graduate Students, Harvard employees and Adult Community.
