About this Event
66 Garden St, Cambridge, MA 02138
Part of Technologies of Relating, a collaboration between the Partnering Lab, Harvard's metaLab, and the OFA Dance Program.
Join a Fusion dance party that will begin with an all-levels workshop on Somatic Partnering developed by Dr. Ilya Vidrin, Research Fellow at Metalab (at) Harvard and Director of the Partnering Lab. Somatic Partnering offers a framework to develop meaningful connection, physical sensitivity, and focused attention on mutual attunement with others. The workshop will then evolve into a Fusion dance party with live DJing by Omari Hayles.
Fusion is a social dance form and creative practice that draws from multiple styles and traditions —it’s about blending movement ideas to create a shared, improvised experience. Together, participants will practice leading and following, sharing weight, creating dynamic shapes, and cultivating a sense of trust and care with a partner in community.
Expect a welcoming, playful, and inclusive space where you can expand your skills, find new pathways of movement, and discover the joy of dancing in true collaboration.
Itinerary for the evening:
6-6:30pm: mix and warm-up

7:30-9pm: Fusion dance party
Designed for all levels and abilities—whether you’re brand new to dance partnering or already experienced.
