As stated on the Nubian Markets website, "Nubian Markets is more than just a market. It's a model and an embodiment of the African history that is so deeply rooted within the soils of this nation, and in Nubian Square." Nubian Markets was created to serve as a hub for the Roxbury community, and a platform for the amazing foods and flavors of the African diaspora.

One of the local products on the shelves at Nubian Markets is GRIA Food Co. cashews. "GRIA stands for Grown in Africa - a tribute to the hard-working producers we source from across the continent." Founder, Joshua Reed-Diawuoh's early career brought him to Ghana, where "he helped the Ghanaian government draw new local investment in the agriculture sector. It was during this time that Joshua dedicated himself to supporting agricultural development in Sub-Saharan Africa and founding his own food company."
"Later, Joshua’s studies at MIT focused on sustainability and agricultural innovation helped shape the vision for the company."

Meet local food entrepreneurs, Asim Shakur-Duvall, Cafe and Catering Manager at Nubian Markets, and Joshua Reed-Diawuoh, Founder of GRIA Food Co., and learn about the challenges and opportunities of starting a food business in the greater Boston area.
This event is free and open to all HUID holders.

*Please note: there will be an optional cashew tasting as part of this event.
