Calling all literature fans! The English Department is pleased to launch the LitLab, a weekly forum for lively, informal discussions of cutting-edge topics in literature and culture. Each week we’ll discuss short pieces of writing on a wide variety of topics and think together about why literature matters today more than ever. At LitLab sessions, you’ll meet students and faculty in English and allied fields and find a shared casual space to talk about the books and ideas you love.

Anyone with a Harvard Key can join LitLab through the Canvas site. The next session is Friday, October 16, 12:30pm EST on the topic, “In the Archives.” Literary scholars and writers sometimes find new documents that change the way we think about authors, texts, periods, and cultural movements. What do these “discoveries” mean? How and why are they important? We’ll discuss some of the most exciting recent literary finds and consider the new vantage they offer on established literary paradigms.
