About this Event
Did you know that approximately 76% of lower-income families with children suffering from sickle cell disease (SCD) had their applications for federal disability benefits denied between 2015 and 2020?
The new Disability Specialty will host its first Dinner & Dialogue in the private dining room of the D-hall. This event is an invaluable opportunity to delve into the challenges faced by children with SCD and the barriers they encounter in accessing disability benefits.
We are thrilled to have Winthrop's resident hematology fellow, Moses Murdock, co-leading this important discussion with the Disability team. Together, we’ll explore the intricate relationship between chronic illness and disability, discuss the experiences of children with SCD, and brainstorm actionable solutions to help overcome the obstacles children with SCD face in accessing disability benefits.
Join us for what promises to be a lively and impactful dialogue!
