The 2020 election saw a dramatic increase in Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) voter participation—increasing ten percentage points over 2016. In the runup to the 2022 midterm elections, how will political parties continue to court AAPI voters? What strategies work to reach the growing AAPI community?

Please join the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation and Harvard Kennedy School’s AAPI Caucus for a virtual public discussion featuring Madalene Mielke, President and CEO of Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies; and Dr. Lanhee Chen, Director of Domestic Policy Studies at Stanford University, Candidate for California Controller (R). Mielke and Chen will discuss salient policy issues for the AAPI community, strategies for inspiring AAPI voter participation, and the importance of data disaggregation for understanding AAPI voting trends. The event will conclude with a question and answer session.

Featuring:

Madalene Mielke, Pres. & CEO of Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies
Dr. Lanhee Chen, Director of Domestic Policy Studies at Stanford University, Candidate for California Controller (R)
Moderator: Tova Wang, Senior Practice Fellow in American Democracy, Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation
