#CompFestWelcome to CompFest, the annual Harvard Student Composers Festival presented by the Office for the Arts with artistic director Veronica Leahy '23. The Spotlight Series takes place over three days and features commentary from esteemed professional composers in the field and performances of original work by student composers. In keeping with the CompFest spirit of inclusiveness and connections through music, the conversation around each piece also includes the audience. Join us for great music, engaging ideas and a spotlight on the creative process — all in a relaxed setting.
Vijay Iyer is the featured guest artist for the Spotlight event at 6:30-8 p.m. on Monday, April 10 in Holden Chapel. At Harvard, Iyer holds the title of Franklin D. and Florence Rosenblatt Professor of the Arts, with a joint appointment in the Department of Music and the Department of African and African American Studies. But his artistic reach and scope are international and broad. In 2016, the New Yorker magazine called Iyer the "most lauded piano player in jazz."
Featured students include: Mercedes Ferreira-Dias '24, Elyse Martin-Smith '25 and Ethan Chaves '26.
This event is free and open to the public. No tickets required. Join us. We welcome all audience members.
