What is capoeira?
Capoeira is a very hybrid form of physical activity: it is a dance, a martial art, a musical style, a narrative performance, and even more. Capoeira is deeply connected to the history of Afro-Brazil. During the slavery period, Black individuals had their bodies seized, capoeira was a form of getting the rights for their own bodies back, a way of fighting back. So, please join us to our capoeira workshop with Mestre Chuvisquinho. The workshop will teach you basic movements and elementary rules of capoeira, and its history.

The workshop will be in Lehman Dining Hall, so you must wear a mask!
You must present your ID upon entrance;
Please wear comfortable clothes, since capoeira is a kind of physical activity.
