The annual Black Health Matters Conference provides an opportunity to raise the profile of Black health issues and to engage with individuals outside the Harvard community. This conference will connect speakers, students, and professionals from neighboring universities as well as engage members of the Cambridge & Boston communities. We hope to identify opportunities where the diverse skillset of our board and membership can be of service to the Black Cambridge and Black Boston communities through conversations with community members, local politicians, local healthcare professionals, and activists. Whether those initiatives take the form of volunteering at community health centers, leveraging the Harvard name to lobby local politicians, performing research to advance town/city health policy proposals, or teaching about Black health disparities in secondary schools, our goal is to raise awareness of Black health disparities and support the efforts of communities to improve the health of their members.
