With the growing concern about social media's impact on teen mental health, what can we do to support the teens in our lives? Join us as we launch HGSE’s new Center for Digital Thriving by welcoming the U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, to the Askwith Education Forum. Our conversation will go beyond the headlines about teen mental health to discuss the Surgeon General’s recent advisory on social media, share stories of how youth really engage with the technologies that surround them, and explore practical strategies for supporting digital well-being. We’ll discover how educators and families have the power to help youth navigate — and thrive — in today’s tech-filled world.
Speaker: Dr. Vivek Murthy, U.S. Surgeon General, Department of Health and Human Services
Moderator: Emily Weinstein, Co-Director, Center for Digital Thriving and Principal Investigator at Project Zero, Harvard Graduate School of Education
Guest: Destinee Ramos, Harvard College student Class of 2026 and research assistant on teens and digital well-being, Center for Digital Thriving at the Harvard Graduate School of Education
All Askwith Education Forums are accessible, free, and open to the public unless otherwise noted. Seating is first-come, first-seated.
