Join the Harvard Art Museums and illustrator and painter, Marion Kadi for two special M/Lab workshops in April. The first workshop on April 12 between 2 pm - 4:30 pm will be offered in English, and the second workshop on April 20 between 2 pm - 4:30 pm will be offered in French. French speakers of all proficiency levels welcome. No prior art-making experience necessary.

Participants in this workshop will explore how to go from real life to the abstract with acrylic paint. Abstraction is often a process, one that can take its roots in the artist’s world experience. There are many ways to go from the object to its abstract representation; this workshop will focus on the use of technique as a fruitful way to move towards abstraction. Participants will spend some time looking at examples of abstraction from the museum collection. After that they will experiment with acrylic paint and develop a "dictionary" of techniques. Participants will then use their dictionary of techniques to abstract an object (or scene, person, idea, etc.) drawn from the real world.

Capacity is limited. To learn more about Marion, please visit her website at www.marionkadi.com. Please plan to enter the Museums through the Broadway Entrance (around the corner from the main Museum entrance and across the street from the Sackler Building).
