About this Event
View map Free Event Add to calendarThis week's speaker is Ann Pearson: To ionize or not to ionize: The challenge of getting carbon underwater
Ann Pearson is the Murray and Martha Ross Professor of Environmental Sciences. Her research focuses on applications of analytical chemistry, isotope geochemistry, and molecular biology to biochemical oceanography and Earth history.
Through study of the “how, when, and why” of microbial processes, her work yields insight about environmental conditions on Earth today, in the past, and about potential human impacts on our future. Recent projects have focused on the carbon and nitrogen cycles and on pathways of lipid biosynthesis.
Chalk Talks are open to the entire MSI community, including both Harvard affiliates and the general public. Pre-registration is not required for attendance. Hot beverages, pastries, and other light breakfast fare will be provided.
The micro-centric research community at Harvard is thriving!
The event takes place at 24 Oxford Street, in classroom 375. To join us, enter the building at 24 Oxford St. and take the elevator to level 3. It will feel like you are in the museum. Head straight out of the elevator (through the climate change exhibit) to classroom 375. Other doors to the space may be locked at this time and require HUID tap access.
